How often should I rebuild my suspension?

We recommend annual service on all mountain bike suspension.  Manufacturers recommend a more frequent tune-up of every 50-100 hours of riding, but we feel once a year does the trick for most riders. 

What's included in a rebuild?

Regular fork rebuilds include:

• contact from a Technician to verify fork received and expected turnaround time
• disassemble and inspect all internals
• surgically clean all components using a bioremediation sink
• inspect bushings; all Fox forks include bushing replacement
• install new dust wipers, oil seals, and o-rings
• flush old fork oil and refill with premium Torco RFF racing fluid
• reassemble, test damping range and air/coil spring function
• put on Suspension Experts sticker, of course!

Regular rear shock rebuilds include:

• contact from a Technician to verify shock received and expected turnaround time
• disassemble and inspect all internals 
• air sleeve service on air shocks
• disassemble damper and replace all o-rings and quad-rings
• rebuild damper using premium Torco RSF racing fluid
• use "top secret" methods to ensure a perfect, air free damper system bleed
• reassemble, test damping range and air/coil spring function on hand dyno
• and yes, we still put on a Suspension Experts sticker

What about custom tuning?

Every job we do at Suspension Experts is custom.  For each rebuild, we draw on our years of experience while factoring in manufacturer's specifications, rider's weight, and riding style to optimize suspension performance.

Do you make custom parts?

Yes.  When we're not working on your suspension, we're riding ours on the trails of Pisgah.  In order to make our ride and yours better, we've developed and locally produced custom parts to get the most from your suspension. 

For Maverick:

• Internal Floating Piston (IFP)
  
• HeadLocks
  

For RockShox:

• Damper base -- replaces stock plastic damper base that is prone to leaking on many 32 mm forks with a custom machined aluminum, dual o-ring seal

In the works...

• We're currently testing a negative spring for the 32 and 36 mm Float Series forks.  Check back often for a release date.
• A redesigned piston for a Fox 40.

Made in the USA!  We offer two styles of t-shirts, gray and blue, for $19 each.  Both are made in the US by American Apparel, plus designed and printed by rider friends in South Carolina.  We also offer an organic cotton kids t-shirt, also by American Apparel for $15 (same style as the gray, but in the color galaxy.)  We have hats and socks too.  Just let us know what you'd like to add to your order and we'll throw in some stickers too.
