What is Suspension Experts, Inc.?

Suspension Experts specializes in rebuilding, custom tuning, and sales of mountain bike suspension systems.  We focus on providing perfect service with quick turn-around time.  Suspension Experts, founded in 2005, is based in Asheville, North Carolina – the “mountain bike mecca” of the East Coast.

What brands does Suspension Experts service?

We do it all!  Our suspension service center works on all major brands including Cane Creek, Fox, Manitou, Marzocchi, Maverick, RockShox and others.

Why should I send my fork or shock to Suspension Experts?

Because we love the work we do.  We obsess over it.  We think about it day and night.  From the start, we’ve made quick turn-around a priority, knowing that no one likes to be without their ride for long.  Also, because we work on all major brands, we offer one stop shopping and frequently find innovative solutions to problems based on our comprehensive experience.  Read about the Suspension Experts' focus here.

How does it work?

Simple.  Go to our Work Order page and complete the on-line form to enter your job in the service queue.  Then send your fork or shock to our factory authorized service center in Asheville, North Carolina.  Technicians will examine it and contact you with a preliminary cost estimate.  If you’re a local, just stop by between 9-5.  When the work is complete, we’ll contact you with a final price and ship it back via UPS as soon as possible.

What’s the turn-around time?

We love to ride and want our customers to ride too.  So most jobs are completed within five business days of arriving at our shop or less.

Who are Suspension Experts’ customers?

Suspension Experts provides professional service for riders, bikes shops, and manufacturers.  Our customers come from around the US, as well as internationally.

How much does it cost?

Full service for a fork is between $105--$140 depending on the make/model.  Rear shock full service is $130-$165, also depending on the make/model.  Each job is unique, so prices may vary.  See the Prices page for more details. Dealers, ask about our Dealer Incentive Program.

Are there custom tuning options available for my suspension?

Yes.  As a result of working on thousands of suspension jobs, we can offer unique or better ways to tune your suspension, but it depends on the brand and model.  And make sure to enter in your custom tuning info on the Work Order form on-line.  That way we'll have your data to customize your suspension for your individual riding style.

Is Suspension Experts a green business?

Not because it’s popular, but because we care.  We try to do what we can to minimize our impact on the environment.  We bike commute to work as much as possible.  We recycle everything we can and harass our business neighbors to do the same – going as far as to collect their recycling for them.  We reuse every piece of packaging and use biodegradable packing peanuts when needed.  Customers receive used bubble wrap, but we think it’s worth it.

One of our core business practices is to make choices that are environmentally sustainable and responsible.  So we installed a bioremediation sink.  The SafeWasher uses microorganisms that actually eat the toxic compounds derived from petroleum products and transform them in to harmless carbon dioxide and water.  Better for the technicians washing parts and better for the environment.

We've also switched from paper towels to cloth shop rags that are washed in an environmentally friendly facility. And last but not least, all of our waste oil goes in to a Clean Burn furnance, designed to burn any combination of petroleum products.  Our business neighbors stay warm and toasty all winter with the help of our donated waste oil.

Oh yeah, and our website hosting is powered by wind.  Pretty cool.

Where is the best place to ride in Western North Carolina?

While Bent Creek in Asheville is a popular spot close to home, the trails in Pisgah Forest beckon to those of us who like a wilder experience.  Butter Gap is pretty tasty.  And if you like it rough, get your ass to the top of Pilot Rock for a sweet descent.  But you’ll have to earn it.

What else do I need to know about Suspension Experts?

We test our shred.
